Greater Cumberland Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the beautiful area of western Kentucky locally known at the Pennyrile.  The church is easily accessible from anywhere in the Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee area.

Greater Cumberland Baptist began in a renovated dance studio on September 16, 2001, just a few short days after the 9/11 terrorist attack. Greater Cumberland was founded by Pastor Shaver and his family, out of the ministry of Windsor Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. God blessed in a great way and many were led to Christ and others were brought together to help this new work of God. Since her inception, the church has been through several building and remodeling programs to accommodate the growth and facilitate our outreach. The Lord miraculously opened the door for us to purchase a public school facility on 15 acres, right down the road, where we will eventually move our ministry to in the near future.

The church ministers in various ways, including graded Sunday School classes, where our children are given relevant Bible lessons; weekly discipleship training, where adults are taught, one-on-one, Biblical truths that establish new believers in their Christian walk; men’s and ladies ministries that meet to encourage, challenge and equip our families in living out the Christian faith at home, in the community and around the world. Greater Cumberland Baptist Church is grateful to be actively supporting missionaries at home and abroad, with several families from the church in training for future works. Currently we have families serving in Central America and in Bible translation work. Additionally, we have our Pennyrile Baptist Bible Institute, which currently is instructing students in Biblical languages, and offers the families in our church the opportunity to delve more purposefully into learning the Bible. We are also making preparations for the opening of a classical Christian school, beginning incrementally with the younger grades. The school will open the fall of 2017.

Because of our proximity to Ft. Campbell, the church has a very active ministry to the military community and the soldiers of the 101st. On a regular basis, we have had a great number of soldiers from this church represent their country on the battle field. As a result, our ministry to the families of those who serve has been very active and productive.

Greater Cumberland Baptist Church believes it is a privilege to serve the Lord, and we are looking forward to the great things He has in store for the future.
